| Fishing Tips: |
Blackmouth: Make sure you use Power Pro main line and Seaguar Fluorocarbon leaders. The Power Pro line has "no stretch" and will set the hook off of the downrigger, so you can simply play out the fish without ripping the hook out of their mouth by setting the hook over and over again. This is where I see most of the fish lost!

| Coho/Steelhead: With the rainy season upon us, remember to work the edges of the river. Use #0 or wee and #1 Dick Nite spoons with about a 3 to 4 foot leader to allow for proper action. Also, make sure you use Seaguar Flourocarbon leaders to enhance the chance of a bite. These little "Twisters" are very closed mouthed sometimes. I like to use Power Pro main line to feel every bite and Seaguar leaders to hide the line from the fish. |
| Chum Salmon: Work the edges with a #15 or #16 Kwikfish or Mag Wart smothered in Pro-Cure Sardine, Anchovy or Herring oils. I will also wrap a slice of sardine or anchovy on either of the above lures. If you are shore fishing, the use of a side planner will help you get these lures to the "Junk Yard Dog's". Remember to hold on to your pole, because these fish are hard fighters. I use Power Pro main line and Seaguar leaders for these guys too! |
| Float Fishing: I will use a "Slide Float" mostly with dental floss as a stopper and a small bead below the knot of the dental floss. Use a nail knot to attach the dental floss onto the main line and use John's Jigs for the best success under your float. As a back up, I will use a whole shrimp or a small cluster of eggs to change the presentation. |
| Sturgeon: It is time to fish the local "Diamond Sides" in Snohomish and Skagit Counties. I use 50 lb. Power Pro main line and Sure Set 50 lb. leaders that are 20" to 24" in length. Look for troughs and ledges to toss your bait into. The sturgeon are foraging these areas for their next meal. The crabs are all over now and eager for a free meal. Make sure that you use plenty of magic thread to wrap your bait on. Don't just let the crabs sit and eat your bait....kick them off! |
| Fish are sometimes few and far between....buy quality equipment like Gamakatsu hooks to enhance your catch rate! |
